On a beautiful Friday, members from Shelburne Farms came to our school to have an adventure with Mrs. Flinn's and Ms. LaCasse's class. We had an awesome time! Before we started our adventure we split into three groups and introduced ourselves to the Shelburne Farms leaders. In our groups we shared what we already knew about soil, water and animals. Some of the groups headed into the forest to learn about and test soil. Ask your child to share with you what they learned about soil and the tools they used to test it. While some groups were in the forest, other groups went to explore our pond. At the pond we caught leeches, snails, salamander eggs, dragonfly nymphs, water skiers, tadpoles, plant seeds and other aquatic life. Ask your child what they caught, how they caught it and what they learned about our pond. We learned a lot about nature and that our pond is hungry for second grader's shoes! ;) Thank you Shelburne Farms for the beautiful day on Friday!
